Question by : Is it illegal to download a free app through jailbreaking?
I know it’s illegal to download a paid app for free with something like installous, but is it still illegal to download a free app through another app like installous?
I just want to get the past version of an app.

It is still illegal (although there is a 0% chance of you getting in trouble for it). Any time you download from a source other than one’s approved by the company it is considered an illegal download.
